Do I need a background in history or politics to play?

No…but it certainly helps!  We’ve crafted the cards to give as much context to an Event or Subject as much as we can.  When you’re spinning your web and the entire table is watching, having a little more information on the events helps put together a cohesive narrative, but in the end, people will believe what they want to hear! The most reasonable explanation is not always the one the public will believe in the end.

Am I required to explain a subject and motive?

No!  In fact, the media dodges the story all the time.  We live in an era of spin, where the facts of the story aren’t as important as the emotional impact of the event itself.  Spend as much or as little time on a Subject or Event as you like, but you are required to play one of each when reporting the story.

How am I supposed to explain how someone alive today participated in an event from the Middle Ages, or how a fictional character acted in the real world?

Be creative?  Try using either immortality or time travel.  You might also consider altering the Event or scenario to something that fits the appropriate era or universe.  Remember, you can dodge as much of the question as you like.

When it’s my turn to represent the public, do I need to pick the theory that makes the most sense?

Absolutely not. Has that stopped anyone from believing conspiracy theories in the first place? Whichever one you like the best, confirms your biases, or makes you laugh – be your own judge. Take in the information and make your decision. That’s the best we can do in real life

Does Wake Up Sheeple! Have time limits?

We have not mandated a time limit to start pitching a narrative or to completely wrap one up.  Try and be reasonable with your fellow player.  Some players will naturally take longer turns than others.
