Hello Truth Seekers!
Wake Up Sheeple! is the conspiracy theorist’s card game about seeking the truth. In this game, players representing “Mainstream Media Outlets” pitch “news stories” using the cards in their hand to the “General Public” to explain conspiracy theories from history.
Events
One Player, deemed the General Public, will choose two Event cards. Events are real events, conspiracies, or ideas shrouded in conspiracy. The General Public will then choose one card to use. This is the Event that they will ask the Mainstream Media about.
Choose a Subject
Next, each of the Mainstream Media players will draw 5 Motive cards. Motives are motivations for how the Subject influenced the event.
Choose a Motive
The rest of the players are the Mainstream Media. Each of the Mainstream Media players will draw 5 Subject cards. Each subject card is a person, place, or thing.
The Truth Revealed!
Finally, each Mainstream Media player will choose one Subject and one Motive. These players will then each come up with their own manufactured truth of what really happened at that Event!
In the above example, one player has chosen “God” as their subject and “To impress a girl at the bar” as their motive. They can make up a truth like the following:
“Its very simple… the answer was right in front of everyone the whole time. Sure, the history books WANT you to believe that Russian negligence caused the meltdown at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Unfortunately, this is completely false. God did it. God caused Chernobyl to melt down and the reason is not as complex as you might think. You see, God gets lonely in heaven. Sometimes he goes to the bars down on earth to chill out. BUT APRIL OF 1986 WAS DIFFERENT. He saw a solid 10/10 at the bar and had to impress her. He knew that if he could convince her he was god, he was a shoe in for this fine woman to go home with him. With a sly smile, God said: “Watch this.” Bam. Chernobyl melted down and even got the Soviets to take the blame.
From there the General Public will choose which Mainstream Media to believe and give them the Event card to indicate a point. Then the player to the left of the General Public is the new General Public.
